5th Annual St Augustine Pirate Festival
November 8-10, 2013
Francis Field on West Castillo Drive
Join the Krewe of the Black Heart and Ancient City Privateers as they celebrate the Golden Age of Piracy in the ancient city of St Augustine FL. The weekend will be full of historic exhibits, living history demonstrations, a pirate land battle, Drop Anchor Tavern, and the Thieves Market! Sound like fun?
The gate opens at 4 pm on Friday. From 7 to 10 pm, bring your lanterns (Lantern Light Friday Night) and enjoy the ambiance, with $2 beer, $3 rhum, and black heart pirate grog, featuring live music by Rusty Cutlass, Bawdy Boys (see YouTube video below), and The CRAIC (a percussion and midevil bagpipe show--see video below). The field closes at 10, but the fun continues with the Historic Pub Crawl on St. George Street.
The band o'pirates will be at it again on Saturday morning, with the gate reopening at 10 and a pirate battle against the Spanish Garrison, to include sword fighting and musket, pistol, and cannon fire at noonish. Spend the rest of the afternoon tooling around the Thieves Market and enjoying the music. The field closes to the public at 6 pm for the private already-sold-out Buccaneer Bash.
If you missed Saturday’s Pirate Battle or loved it so much you want to see another, you’ll get your chance on Sunday (gate opens again at 10 am, battle again at noon-ish). Then follow the Pirate Court in the "big tent" and see what happens to those who don’t follow Code. Fun, food, music, and shopping all day!
If you need a place to lay ye pirate head, you'll find suitable lodgin' here at Bayfront Westcott House!
