It's back! Thru July 10, El Galeon once again will grace the St. Augustine Municipal Marina, just across the street from this St Augustine bed and breakfast, and until February 1 has company -- the Nao Victoria, a replica of the first ship to successfully circumnavigate the world. El Galeón is a replica of the vessels that traveled the coasts of Florida between the 16th and 18th centuries, transporting men, goods, culture, and ideas, creating ties between America and Europe. The ship will be docked and open to the public at the St. Augustine City Marina, with tours from 9 am to 6 pm daily. Nao Victoria adults $10 youth $5; El Galeón adults $15, youth $8; both ships adults $20, youth $10. For more detail, visit www.staugustine-450.com/naogaleon. In tribute to the bold Spaniards who sailed to Florida centuries ago, El Galeón will set sail to Florida’s Atlantic Coast this spring, inviting visitors to come aboard at four ports of call--Miami, Cape Canaveral, Fort Lauderdale, and St. Augustine FL.
El Galeón is a detailed replica of ships that brought Spanish explorers and settlers to Florida after Juan Ponce de León claimed the land for Spain in April 1513. It is a floating museum and a living-history testament to the mariners who forged Florida’s history. The ship departed from Puerto Rico, where Ponce de Leon was governor, and is being sailed in much the same way his crew did. Visitors will learn about Florida history and sense the spirit of adventure that drove those Spanish mariners to explore such distant lands.
This St Augustine bed and breakfast is located just across the street from this attraction. Enjoy one of our comfy rooms, a great breakfast on the veranda and then an awesome day exploring the ship and tooling around town.
