The Music of Christmas
2 Days - 25 Inns - 25 Restaurants - $30
A charity event you won’t want to miss!
Dec 13 & 14, 2014, 1-5 pm
December marks the 21st consecutive year for the annual St Augustine Historic Bed & Breakfast Holiday Tour. Over the years, the tour has become a much-anticipated highlight of the city’s Nights of Lights celebration (touted in National Geographic’s 2011 Top 10 List of Places to See Holiday Lights) and features 25 historic inns, each uniquely decorated for the holiday season. This year’s festivities will celebrate the music of Christmas, with a different feature song at each Inn.
At Bayfront Westcott House, you will be Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree with local artist Jackie Rock of Rock Art Studio.
Making its Holiday Tour debut this year is the Ximenez-Fatio House on Aviles Street. Currently a historical landmark and popular museum that depicts early tourism in Florida, Fatio House was one of St. Augustine’s very first Inns owned and operated by a woman, opening its doors to travelers in the early 1800s. The distinguished Colonial Dames of America purchased the property in 1939 and have been absolutely meticulous in its true-to-form renovations and furnishings. For the tour, the House will emulate an 1800s Florida Christmas, the décor of which will include Spanish moss, various types of citrus, sea shells, magnolia leaves, Florida sand pine, and plants native to the period.
As in years past, each Inn will pair up with their favorite local restaurant, meaning that you will be privy to a different and distinguishing tasty treat at each inn you visit.
The tour is self paced and self guided. Tour time on both days is 1 to 5 pm. You will receive a map of Downtown that shows which inns to tour on which day. Most of the Inns are grouped closely together, which facilitates easy walking; however, a tour shuttle will be available. Tickets are $30 per person, are good for both days, and can be purchased online at www.staugustinebandbtour.com.
Partial proceeds of this year's tour will be donated to a new education program for area homeless. Operated by First Coast Technical College, the Fresh Start Culinary Arts Program will provide training that will lead to certification from the American Culinary Federation and local and national health departments.
So come join the fun! All the hype, the happy, and the hospitality will leave you breathless and super excited to bring in the holiday season!
